We believe in the freedom of all art and the various forms in which it manifests. A legacy should be more than shaped blocks of wood or steel and pigment splattered surfaces, but these crude materials are the instruments available to propel the spirit toward immortality. We believe we must be free to maximize the utilization of these elements in the struggle to achieve ascension into the social conscious of relevance affecting humanity. Time is the ultimate master that determines the effectiveness of pure artistic ideas and we believe that human intervention that suppresses judgment prematurely is an assault on the evolution of our species, and we feel that if you kill the reality that the dream will die.
The Hoggtowne Paint Slingers paint visual expressions of landscapes and still life’s utilizing paints applied to Masonite Panels in creative ways. The emphasis is on the process, where paintings are thrown, beat, washed and blown. The paintings have the freedom to breakdown the subject image into a simplified motif applied to a explosive cornucopia of color that ranges from pure abstraction to expressionistic reality. Although many of the paintings are of the same subject, the variation in the processes utilized creates truly individualistic pieces that stretch the definition of painting.
